Merger proposal

The Murder of John Butkovich article should be redirected to John Wayne Gacy. The murder is not significantly notable on its own and is better understood within the context of Gacy's broader criminal activities. The standalone article contains redundant and trivial details, making it more appropriate to integrate this information into Gacy’s main article. Mooonswimmer 22:07, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There would be way too much detail (much of it superfluous) added to this article if it was merged. The article you note arguably should be deleted. Also, the original author of the article was exposed as a sockpuppet earlier this year. Kieronoldham (talk) 22:19, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps so. Can see slightly more merit in the first murder Wiki. page staying given the circumstances and how Gacy discovered the sexual and psychological enjoyment, but I really do think only the Piest article should arguably have its own Wiki. page.--Kieronoldham (talk) 21:51, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The McCoy article seems fine to me, but I could understand why others would have issue with it given the sockpocket creator. On a different note, I've tried to start a Piest page (here is a link to a draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Murder_of_Robert_Piest if you're interested), but it got shot down twice due to me really not knowing how to write a wikipedia article. I had actually made some edits to Butkovich's article today... I would say the only problems I've really found with the Piest article is some grammatical errors. If I do find time within the next week or so, I might be able to help with this...

I don't find the Butkovich article a bad article to have since he is one of the more known Gacy victims and it has decent enough information in my opinion.. though I recognize this isn't popular opinion. Anhedonicx (talk) 03:39, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I see the article about the Murder of John Butkovich as being a sub-article of this biography. It goes into details about that particular murder that are not covered in this article. Merging the articles may result in an undue emphasis on this particular murder. I think the balance is currently about right. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 18:35, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gacy Painted Skulls

A message to @Kieronoldham and @Nikkimaria
I clearly disagree with the fact that Gacy did not paint skulls on death row. I even read the reference and other sources and all of them said that he painted lots of skulls, including a skull from Jeffrey Dahmer, titled “Dahmer skull.” Sold for around $2,000. Other paintings he painted not listed include: Mickey Mouse, some landscapes of mountain scenes and birds, and himself. The skulls should definitely be included since they were many painted unlike the rest where there were just one. Hope this helps and I can also send screenshots if you need proof that I read it.
